1 What do you find to be the strength of this essay?
The essay strength is based on the use of first hand experiences that the writer had on the field. Whereas general descriptions give information that may be out of context, the use of personal experiences plays a major role the case given in the essay. Secondly, the flawless arguments supported with relevant evidence such as the use of Carol Gilligan’s Care Ethics framework.
2 What are two areas of the essay that can be improved? How?
The author has given a clear definition of the POLST form which was developed in Oregon 1991. However, it would add more value to add some background information on how exactly it came about. For instance, talk of the circumstances that led to the form, given it came in 1991, then it means there is something that necessitated it. Secondly, I noted there are five references but only three are cited in the text. It would add more value to look at other arguments of scholars in the field. It will give a wider view of the situation than limiting one to their views.
