As a result, making sacrifices for spouses for the benefit of the relationship is common in Chinese weddings. This type of sacrifice is more common when trying to resolve a conflict. The conflict between interests can occur during the early stages of marriage when the spouses are still learning to understand each other. How well they can respond to these conflicts determines their marital well-being. According to the article, sacrifices show a higher level of commitment and satisfy the recipient, thus improving the overall quality of marriage.
