“Lack of Oxford Comma Could Cost Maine Company Millions in Overtime Dispute” is a good example of an article that shows the significance of the English language in the law. In particular, proper attention should be given to punctuation marks since they can bring confusion or alter the meaning of a specific statement or argument in court. For instance, in the case at hand, the three truck drivers who sued Oakhurst Dairy were seeking overtime payment. Based on Maine law, companies are expected to pay their workers 1.5 times the normal rates for each hour after 40 hours worked in a week (Victor).
