Historical and Socio-Political Conflicts Still Relevant Today

Coursework Instructions:

Following this week's instructor-led Zoom meeting, submit a critical reflection to your instructor. Your response should be between 450 and 600 words, structured into three paragraphs. Each paragraph should respond to one of the following questions:
What did you find useful to increase your knowledge of course concepts and content?
What did the discussion make you wonder about?
What academic or professional ideas did you agree or disagree with and why?
What academic or professional ideas did you not understand?
What is something that caused your thinking to change and how?
Your critical reflection should demonstrate connections between your existing knowledge, skills, and attitudes (derived from previous academic study and professional development) and the course concepts and content discussed in the Zoom meeting.
To help you understand the purpose of this assignment and to develop critical reflection technique you may find it helpful to review these resources from Deakin University Links to an external site and the University of Florida Links to an external site.
Teacher's Instruction:
Suggest focusing more on the topics at hand rather than personal anecdotes from the various people involved in the zoom meeting.
Topic discussed during the meeting: Please examine the following articles in light of your week's readings on war termination. Specifically, consider how each of these case studies connects to Fred Ilke's reading and the broader conceptions of war termination issues. This will be an opportunity to mesh what you read this week alongside historical case studies to better understand the nature, and difficulties, of war termination.

Understanding the various historical and socio-political conflicts worldwide is essential for understanding the current policies between nations. This understanding allows for developing strategic policies to address conflicts within and between various nation-states. Accordingly, during the Zoom meeting held, several points were raised by the instructor, which included past conflicts between nation-states and the current state of war between various nation-states. In light of this, the author believes that some of the most unique concepts and discussions that were made include those that transpired between WW1, the policies that were created because of it, and the current conflict that are happening around the world since these shows a continuity between the past and current state of affairs in the international and domestic settings.
Reflection
One of the things that I found helpful was the discussion about the war between Japan, and the United States was a pivotal moment in the history of the world. Aside from the historically-known facts that were presented, the instructor also provided a discussion about the battle of Hiroshima. In line with this, even though I agree with the professor that the Bombing of Hiroshima was done by necessity, I also believe that the current and contemporary discussions on its necessity have somehow sugar-coated the effect on the innocent lives lost during that day. One example of this was that the bombing and the war were credited to the formation of the United Nations.
Another important topic discussed was the Fourteen Points and how the United States failed to abide by these points. The Fourteen Points was a proposal by United States President Woodrow Wilson in 1918 to create a f...
