The Mavericks II exhibit at the Cavin Morris contemporary art museum and the art pieces in the ALFRED NEUMAYR:MYTHICAL CREATURES exhibit has definitely struck a string in my soul. I would describe it as grotesque and amusing. It brings a feeling of rawness amidst the complex human persona. The art pieces were made with intricate materials and painted with passion and dedication. These art pieces definitely and obviously took time and patience to make.
The piece that I chose that I would say is least out in would be this art piece.
It has a clear representation of a conscious character as the subject, but what I love about this piece is that it uses vague symbols that represent a boat and a paddle. It solidifies the complexity and rawness of life and that there is a central character captured in the moment of time. There exist a journey inside and outside of the ego subject.
I would describe the theme of the art pieces in the exhibit as a reverse Baroque style art- It is gothic, and a mix of modern and expressionist art manifested through sculptures and paintings.
