Responsibility of Christians with Regards to Communism and Capitalism

"The Cold War was a time where the threat of nuclear holocaust was at its highest and it lasted for decades. Yet the Cold war was a deeper issue than the USA v. Soviet Union, it was the ideas of Capitalism v. Communism. Even deeper it was a battle of free people v. the oppression of people. Christians have a duty to share their view of government and economic system in the geopolitical arena. Christianity aligns with capitalism and the free-market system. Christians have a priority to convey the Gospel through the use of maps whether they are physical or metaphorical.
Christians have a duty to show the world that capitalism and the free-market system is a better economic system than the oppression of communism. Economics is one of the most important pieces to a well running government. The heart of the cold was about a shared economic system where no one owned anything and everyone “pitched in” (Watch: The Cold War in Context: PPOG506: Introduction to Geopolitics and International Diplomacy (D03), n.d.). Communism looks great as a utopian society but when you look closer its about taking the wealth from the rich which diminishes economic growth
The use of maps is important when trying to learn about a location or culture and this can be found in the Bible. In the book of Joshua two spies were sent to gain information on Jericho and essentially create a map physically and of the culture. This helped Joshua complete the plans set before him from God to. Black stated that in the late 19th century British officials gained insights on Central Asia and had an easier time in dealing with terrain and locals by using maps (Black, n.d.). Maps whether they be of physical terrain or intellectual as the Gospel is a map towards God, they are important, and Christians should share the value of this.
During the Cold War identity became a big factor that countries had to figure out, and countries need to embrace their identity just as Christians are to. Huntingdon states that during the Cold war a country could avoid alignment, but they must have an identity (Huntington, 1996). Communism was a movement which sought to destroy cultural identity and replace it with government identity. Christians who hold their identity in Christ have been spreading Christ’s word for thousands of years. Christians have a duty to spread the capitalist identity and the Christian culture because that is apart of the communistic movement.

Dear Student, thank you for participating in this discussion. Your insights on the responsibility of Christians concerning communism and capitalism and the gospel mandates are quite informative. You were right to choose capitalism as the economic ideology Christians prefer and their responsibility in these systems. I believe the target audience will evaluate and process the information presented positively. I agree with your point that Christians have a duty to show the world that capitalism and the free market system is a better economic system than communism. For a long time, Christians have supported capitalism, whose teachings are biblical (Connolly, 2008). Although your sentiments are theoretically correct, I think you did not dig deeper into the benefits of communism. You argued that communism looks great as a utopian society, but when you look closer, it is about takin...
