My Fashion Footprint: Important Issues in Sustainability

Coursework Instructions:

Learning outcome
• Explain the important issues in sustainability
Background
After having watched the True Cost documentary, you might feel sad and overwhelmed with all the negative social and environmental issues it presents. To transition the fashion system towards sustainability, we must categorize the problems into different categories and determine how they are connected. To develop solutions, we need to break down the various problem domains into manageable bits. However, before we can do so, we must organize our minds and our thoughts. Making a mind map should help you manage your thoughts, understand the documentary better, and develop ideas for solutions.
Brief
Create a visual mind map to communicate creatively the issues you believe are key environmental and social issues in the study of sustainability and fashion. Your mind map should present at least 5 key issues and 25 contributing factors or sub-issues. Further, integrate at least 5 solutions or possible actions. Finally, reflect your fashion footprint by providing 5 numerics or information on how you shop or handle your clothes (such as your carbon emissions, consumption, shopping, laundry habits). To calculate your carbon emissions, conduct the quiz developed by Green story and Threadup. The minimum size for your mind map is letter size (8.5 x 11 inches), but you may make it larger. Your mind map should also include a minimum of 10 colourful images. You can find an example of a mind map for an environmental issue on top of this page; please note you should focus on sustainability and fashion. Once you are done with your mindmap, please take a photo and post it on our course website under
