1 Apart from providing mass public transit options, city planners can create bike lanes to encourage people to embrace bicycles to commute to and from work instead of using cars CITATION UnH16 \l 1033 (Un-Habitat, 2016). Besides, those who stay nearby and within the city can be encouraged to embrace foot power so that they can walk to and from work. This can be done by raising parking fees, charging tolls on roads, tunnels, and bridges CITATION Sas14 \l 1033 (Tsenkova & Mahalek, 2014). This will help to make residents less dependent on cars.
2 Most of the factors that can reduce population growth are focused on women because of the fact that women are considered to be a minority group hence their low status in the society CITATION Jad18 \l 1033 (Sasser, 2018). It should be noted that the lower the women’s status the higher the fertility rates, which consequently leads to higher birth rates and an increase in population. The general ways that men get involved in decisions on reproduction and population change include marriage decision, the decision to use or not to use birth control measures, and beliefs (Stern et. al., 2015).
3 The five ways through which I unnecessarily waste energy during a typical day include:-
* Leaving my charged laptop or phone plugged in: this violates the scientific principle of sustainability by not using various forms of solar energy.
* I leave the lights on when I exit my room which violates the principle of sustainability in relation to the use of renewable energy by not using various forms of solar energy.
* Leaving lights on during the day violates the principle of using an alternative source of light such as the sun
* Failing to programme my thermostat violates the principle of using renewable energy sources such as solar energy.
* Running the dishwasher when it is half-full also violates the scientific principles of sustainability instead of mimicking nature’s reliance on biodiversity for renewable energy sources CITATION Tyl14 \l 1033 (Miller & Spoolman, 2014).
4 The blowing winds transfer solar energy into the surface of the water which creates small ripples producing a bumpy surface for the wind to clasp thereby forming larger waves that move through the ocean CITATION Sim18 \l 1033 (Neill & Hashemi, 2018). The water molecules in the waves create ellipses that lead to the transmission and gain of energy between molecules as shown in the figure below:- .
