Creating greater awareness about gender equality and promoting gender equality at work will guarantee the rights of all workers regardless of their gender, people are not fully aware about the labor inequalities in workplaces, which reflects the lack of equality and rights between women and men in the general society. Changes in attitude and behavior are important, and I have chosen to work on the issue of gender equality in the workplace as the issue has been highlighted, but few researchers focus on how psychological concepts are applicable to bring about positive change in behavior and attitudes.
Goals for the change program
There will be change in behavior with the leaders supporting change to implement gender equality initiatives in the workplace. More workers will also express interest and show willingness to support changes in the workplace, as there will be less resistance to change. Both men and women adjust their attitudes and behaviors that anyone is equally capable if they have the knowledge, skills and experience regardless of their gender. Biased attitudes remain one of the issues that make it difficult to promote gender equality. People will hold more egalitarian attitudes such that gender will not hinder one from being promoted. Expectations about gender roles in the workplace also influence whether the leaders and employees are receptive to changes. Sometimes there may be reaction formation with people not expressing their true feelings when they react like in cases where they do not want to be judged harshly (Chapter 11 Lecture slides). The lack of gender equality is not a new problem, and the challenge is how best to challenge attitudes and behaviors to promote equality in the workplace even when people have negative views about such efforts.
Strategies to produce the changes
