Gender has become a pervasive element within the society that people have made assumptions that it has been ingrained into our genetic makeup. Most members of the society find it challenging to believe that gender is continuously created and re-created out of social life, human interact and is the main component and order of that social life (Lorber, 1994). Similarly to culture, gender has been concluded that it is a human production and mainly depends on all people continuously doing gender.
Every day, people subconsciously do gender without giving it any second thought. Men are seen taking care of small children in public which has become a regular occurrence in various cities across the globe. In an example, I saw a man across the street with a one-year-old child in a stroller as everyone around him just stared and smiled approvingly. In such a case, it is clear that people were doing gender the man who highlighted the changing roles of fathers were apparent.
Gender is a highly familiar element of daily life as it has now taken a deliberate disruption in the manner that society expects women and men to act. In most societies gender signs have become highly ubiquitous that people fail to take note of them unless they are ambiguous or absent (Lorber, 1994).
