Posttest-only is the training method where evaluation is only done at the end of the program. The advantage of this method is that when training is being done under a strict time frame, it will be beneficial since participants who were late for the program are all included in the evaluation. It has a disadvantage because it is difficult to evaluate the magnitude of the outcome of the training since there is no pre-test study (Klenke, 2013). Additionally, it is difficult to determine whether the outcomes are internally or externally influenced.
Pre-test/Post-test with a comparison group is an evaluation method where two groups are involved in the training. One group participates in the training, and the other group does not, but the evaluation is done on both groups at the end of the program. The advantage of this method is that the information collected is definitely from the program. It also allows the training manager to evaluate how effective the training was at the end easily. The disadvantage of this method is that it demands many resources and is time-consuming. It also requires the trainer to have two groups with similarities (Klenke, 2013).
In Pretest and posttest only method, the trainer uses a pretest before the program and issues another test at the end of the training program.
