Pace

Pace refers to the speed at which a person speaks.

Maintaining a steady pace during a presentation exudes confidence and holds the listeners’ attention.

The speaker should maintain a steady pace throughout the presentation while occassionally increasing the pace to illustrate passion, emotion, urgency, or excitement. The speaker may also decrease the pace when communicating new or complex information to help the audience comprehend and remember important information. To determine when to change the pace, the speaker should go through their written document and select which sentences to speed up or slow down the pace.

Projection

Projection refers to how loudly or quietly a person speaks or the volume of a speaker’s voice concerning the topic, environment, and audience.

Appropriate voice projection allows the speaker to hold the audience’s attention.
