  Three Primary Things Learned The first primary thing I have learned is that everyone has an implicit bias that is subconscious and concealed even to oneself. In particular, Emily Badger refers to implicit bias as the way minds make uncontrolled associations between specific concepts quickly (Badger, 2016). Some individuals even go to the extent of associating particular identities, such as those of African America with undesirable characteristics, including violence. The second lesson obtained is that people from different ethnic communities are not given the same attention. When a white person goes missing, more attention is drawn compared to when an individual from a minority community is not found. For example, when Gabby Petito, a 22-year-old white lady, and her boyfriend went missing in Wyoming, people combined efforts to search for her by using traditional and social media (Whitehurst, Tang, & Licon, 2021). The third most significant thing learned is that individuals from minority groups are overlooked and underestimated despite their abilities and talents (Bailey, 2019).
