Air pollution. Copper mining requires the use of sulphuric acid. When the acid reacts with other chemical particles during the extraction process, it creates an acidic mist that pollutes the air. The acidic mist harms people’s eyes, skin, and lungs. Also, it destroys crops, damages buildings, and reduces the quality of land.
