The Story of Bottled Water
People globally have been made to believe that bottled water is a healthier option to tap or sink water. University students are not an exception to this narrative partly spearheaded by university administrations that have signed long-term contracts with bottled water companies to supply plastic bottled water in the institution. Beer and liquor have been a primary concern for college and university students, but now plastic bottled water has joined the bandwagon. It can raise a huge concern considering the effect that the bottle pose to the land and the ecosystem. This narrative has been overtaken by time as university students are vigilant and wary about their environment, which is the most affected entity with the bottled water menace.
University students represent the larger United States population that is the largest user of bottled water globally. Universities are therefore among the biggest consumers of these products. Therefore, this can be among the first places where measures are supposed to be taken first before it spread to the other places that are potential consumers. They are also consuming the bottled water at an alarming rate, filling landfills in their institutions' neighborhoods at an alarming rate. Three-quarters of the used plastic water bottles get disposed which is a serious menace to the environment.
