Separation and Reuniting of an Old Married Couple
I felt empathetic and sad after watching and reading the old couple's story, Wolf and Anita Gottschalk, who were married for 62 years. I felt empathy because the couple who had lived inseparably for 62 years together with love have been separated, and after every two days of the meeting, they cry out joy. It felt like someone else's stronghold was being taken away. They had lived for more than 62 years together, which means they grew attached and them staying away from each other was like a part of their body was being taken away, which is sad, painful, and lonely (Bambus, 2018).
It is also sad considering Wolf has lymphoma, a type of cancer, and dementia, a neurocognitive disorder that decreases the ability to think and remember. A person having such conditions must have their loved ones closer. In my opinion, the video went viral because the story is about separating two people in love, and people noticed some injustice. Hence, it got more shares for justice to be served (CTVNews.ca Staff, 2016). The injustice was separating two people in love and needing one another, especially when Wolf was not in good health.
