1 The main difference between robbery, burglary, and larceny is that while burglary refers to the crime committed when an individual illegally enters a property of another individual, larceny (or theft) refers to the act of entering a house with the intent of depriving the owner with his own possessions CITATION Lawnd \l 13321 (Laws.com, n.d.). In other words, an individual who enters a private property with a malicious intent could be charged with burglary, whereas he could only be charged with larceny if he takes something in the process. In contrast to this, robbery is just like burglary (or even larceny), but with the element of threat or physical injuries in the process. In other words, if an individual illegally enters a private property and threaten the owner in order to get what is not his (the criminal), then he is charged with robbery CITATION Lawnd1 \l 13321 (Laws.com, n.d.).

While it would be justifiable for anyone who illegally enters the house of another individual to be punished, certain factors could raise his crime to that of larceny or robbery even without the intent to steal or threaten the individual.
