My organization uses technology to collect patient and health information using electronic health records (EHRs), clinical decision support systems (CDSSs), telehealth, and patient portals. EHRs are computer-based systems that keep patient medical records. CDSSs are computer programs that assist clinicians to make better decisions concerning patient care. Telehealth refers to a health-related service supported by electronic information and telecommunication technologies whose deliverables are tailored to augment patients' and physicians' interactions. Patient portals are applications or websites that allow clients to access their medical data, make appointments, as well as share information with their nurses and physicians. These tools will enable the healthcare organization to collect patient and healthcare information to improve healthcare (Zadvinskis et al., 2018). In my organization, information derived from these tools is used to augment patient care, final performance, and operational efficiency.
EHR information and data can influence patient care and outcomes by offering clinicians access to the client's complete medical history at the point of care.
