Houston Methodist Comprehensive Care Center with various groups of physicians provide and meet community care in difference age population that include internal medical practice, cardiology, orthopedics & sports medicine with a wide range of medical and diagnostic services. Houston Methodist Academic Institute is well known of their research institute specifically in cardiovascular disease, cancer, infectious disease, neurosciences, diabetes. The Houston Methodist Hospital is nonprofit organization and supportive by Houston Methodist Foundations. Recently in August 2022, the Foundation received identified seven new grants, including a grant for $171,667 from American Endowment Foundation and back in September 2021, the Foundation received 18 new grant, including a grant for $3,100,694 from Greater Houston Community Foundation (Houston Methodist Foundation, 2022). The funds invested in various research, special purpose, or other designated endowment programs. Special purpose funds can designate specialty care for indigent patients or other things such as stroke awareness programs for the community. Research designated fund donations support things such as the work of doctors in education and research, scientists in the general internal medicine discipline, or research for nanotechnology in treating brain cancers.
Pearland Family Health Center is part of Community Health Network is a local healthcare provider that currently operates in 12 different locations scattered among the Brazoria, Harris, and Galveston counties that serve the population with low-income and no insurance coverage. With the small cost of copay people can seek medical and health needs and refill prescriptions. They also accepted Medicaid, Medicare, and CHIP. They have primary care, well-child visits developmental screening, immunizations, school and sports physicals, and pediatric specialty care. They provide the prevention programs, for examples: birth control, family planning, well woman exams, pap smears, prenatal care. They also have dental services such as cleanings, fillings and crowns, root canals, tooth removal, infections, retainers, braces, scaling, root planning, dentures and bridges. Per CHN homepage 2021, the organizations received HHS funding and had Federal Public Health Service deemed status through the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA). CHN is granted medical malpractice liability protection through the federal government acting as its primary insurer. Which means all the CHN employees, working within the approved scope of project are considered federal employees and are immune from lawsuits for medical malpractice. A patient who alleges acts of medical malpractice cannot sue the health center or the providers directly but must file the claim against the United States Government.
UTMB Health Women’s Services and Pediatrics WIC is like Community Health Network provide care to low-income and uninsured population but specifically serve child-bearing age women, pregnant women, and pediatric where children and women can get exam, screening and immunization. They have birth control, family planning, well woman exams, pap smears, prenatal care programs. They provide a WIC program which is a nutrition program for pregnant women, new mothers, and young children. The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program, popularly known as WIC, provides low-income women, infants, and children nutrition education and counseling, nutritious foods, and help accessing health care. To be eligible for the program you need to meet the criteria and fill out the application to any WIC facility. Last updated in 2022 of Center on Budget and Policy, WIC is federally funded through the annual appropriations process; states are not required to contribute funds. Since 1997, Congress has provided sufficient funding each year for WIC to serve all eligible applicants. The program receives approximately $5 billion to $6 billion annually.
Another organization of not-for-profit health systems in Southeast Texas, Memorial Hermann has an award-winning and nationally acclaimed Accountable Care Organization, thus far 17 hospitals and numerous specialty programs and services conveniently located throughout Houston area. Memorial Hermann serve all age populations, men and women, diversity races and cultures. They accepted with or without insurance, all private insurance, Medicare and Medicaid. Memorial Hermann funded by Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, donations, donors, charity foundations in providing world-renowned patient care, research and education (Memorial Hermann Foundation, 2023). Their services are countless with a list of experienced physicians from internal medicine to specialists.

Those four organizations have in common that bringing the health care system closer to the community, be available for public to access to healthcare systems. Therefore, the essential of interprofessional communication and collaboration for improving patient health outcomes. Priority here is health promotion and disease prevention, regardless of individual background, races, age, gender, or financial differences, each of the four organizations with a team of physicians and healthcare providers will work together with their clients to have a positive outcome.
