Assignment 4.1: Neurological Disorders

Alzheimer’s Disease

Cerebral Aneurysm

Description of the disorder

Alzheimer’s disease refers to a neurological disorder, which causes the shrinking of the brain and the death of brain cells. Indeed, it is the primary cause of dementia, which entails the decline in behavioral, social skills, and thinking capacity, hence reducing an individual’s ability to handle duties independently (National Institute on Aging, 2017).

A cerebral aneurysm refers to a thin spot of an artery in a person’s brain that bulges out, ruptures, and spills blood to the surrounding tissues. If the bleeding persists, it can lead to hemorrhagic stroke (Chalouhi, Hoh, & Hasan, 2013).

Clinical Manifestations

The disease makes an individual confused, unable to learn new things, increased memory loss, and difficulty in writing, calculation, reading, and language (National Institute on Aging, 2017).
