Occupational safety and health administration or OSHA as it is commonly referred to, is the agency that ensures that workers are treated to a health and safe working environment (Conyers, 2015). It was established in the year 1970 through an Act of Congress by enacting into law the Occupational Safety and Health Actunder the Department of Labor. The agency covers workers in the federal government, employees in the private sector, local and state governments; however t does not cover self-employed persons and family farming members. The agency referred to as United States Environmental protection Agency/ EPA is under the federal government and enforces laws of the Congress related to human health and environmental protection. As such, the OSHA agency offers workers solace by protecting their interests in light of safety and health in the working environment (Conyers, 2015). EPA on the other hand protects the environment from pollution and health hazards that may affect humans (Piltz, 2014).
