Nutritional Self-Analysis Based on the BMI and Hamwi Method

Coursework Instructions:

(1) Maintain a food diary for three days using MyFitnessPal, or a similar diet app. A list of common diet apps can be downloaded in the Worksheets, Forms, and Templates area at left.
(2) Write a nutritional self-assessment paper. In your paper, you will analyze your eating habits, food patterns, and nutrition intake.
Maintaining your diary:
You will use the MyFitnessPal food diary app to record everything that goes into your digestive system over the course of three days. Record everything you eat and drink, and record the name and dosage of any medications that you take, including vitamins, minerals, and herbal supplements.
It is preferable to record your food intake for at least one non-school day or one non-weekday (for example, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, Monday, Tuesday). This way, you will see how your eating habits change with your schedule.
It is important that you take time each day to record your food, drink, and drug intake rather than relying on your memory. An honest, detailed diary will help you gain a better understanding of yourself personally and professionally.
Take screenshots of your MyFitnessPal food diary to include in your analysis paper. At the end of the three days, print the final report in MyFitnessPal to include with your written paper.
Follow the instructions to get started with your food diary with MyFitnessPal.
Your paper should be a minimum of 5 pages in length not including screenshots, title, and reference pages.
Attach a copy of your final report from MyFitnessPal along with your completed nutrient spreadsheet with your paper.
Use APA and include a title and reference page.
Attached will be sample paper, instructions to fitness pal, and instructions for the paper

Nutritional Self-Analysis
BMI & Hamwi
My weight is 160 lbs, and my height is 5'4. I will use the formula of dividing my weight in kilograms with my height in meters squared (National Health Service, 2019). Converting my weight to the desired units becomes 160 lbs/2.2 lbs =72.7kg, and the height 64in/ 39in= 1.6m. I square the height to get 2.56 and then divide my weight in kilograms with the square of my height (72.7/2.56= 28.4) (National Health Service, 2019). Therefore, my BMI is 28.4kg/m2, and according to the National Health Service (2019), I am overweight.
Hamwi Method
The Hamwi approach is a simple method based on a person's gender. The equation uses 100lbs for women (Nafwa org., n.d.). The calculation gives an allowance for the first 5ft and then adds 5lbs to the math for every additional inch in height (Nafwa org., n.d.). In this case, the Hamwi method's calculated weight will be {100+ (5lbs multiplied by 4inches)} =120lbs. I do not agree with the technique because I know my weight is not 120lbs. I agree with the results that I am overweight and need to work on my weight by inducing a diet or indulging in physical exercise. I also ascertain that BMI screening is ideal for the identification of the actual weight.
