Nursing provides an opportunity for individuals to learn and practice the art of enhancing human experiences in the healthcare setting. Nursing is considered both a discipline and a profession due to the evidence-based approach usually employed in the provision of services and experiences (Fawcett, 2020). A discipline is considered more academic and science-based due to the use of theories specific to it while a profession involves the application of skills or knowledge in real-life scenarios (Harms, 2021). Therefore, nursing is both a discipline and a profession based on its formulation of a knowledge base and the availability of standards and regulations to guide practice.
