The focus group provided in-depth information about participants' opinions and feelings, while the randomized clinical trial tested the cause and effect of an intervention.

Goals

* To examine the effectiveness of an adapted iCBT in treating depression and anxiety among breast cancer survivors
* To establish whether there are any changes in the quality of life, fear, and coping strategies in response to treatment among people with breast cancer
* To assess whether there are any changes in terms of perceived social support, quality of relationships, and communication about cancer among breast cancer survivors
* To compare the effects of an adapted iCBT on anxiety and depression among breast cancer survivors, with and without access to the main carer
* To establish what aspects of the iCBT interventions are helpful to survivors of breast cancer and their main carers

* To establish the strategies used by Latina women to cope with breast cancer
* To identify the emotions of Latina women dealing with breast cancer
* To determine whether Latina women faced any medical barriers as part of their breast cancer journey
* To find out what Latina women would consider useful when using a breast cancer online resource

They both investigated coping strategies and emotions experienced by breast cancer participants. However, the clinical trial study assessed the effectiveness of an intervention (an adapted iCBT intervention), while the qualitative study did not explore or test any interventions.

Data Collection

The study utilized questionnaires to collect data about the patients' anxiety and depression, perceived social support, coping strategies, and quality of life, among others.
