Emergency management and preparedness optimize the speed that it takes for proper assistance to be delivered. Specifically, it requires the coordination of multiple resources. As the hospital preparedness coordinator, it is my role to ensure that proper training programs are developed. The paper focuses on the best methods to train all hospitals about employees’ emergency preparedness and management.
Hospital employees should be trained on how to respond to and manage emergencies. In particular, preparing for emergencies needs proper planning and training to increase the willingness of workers to report disasters that might occur during their daily operations (Balut, Der-Martirosian, & Dobalian, 2022). The best method to train employees in a hospital about emergency management and preparedness is by role-playing. Individuals should understand how to react when a disaster occurs. In that light, they will know what they are expected to do and respond to emergencies appropriately. In addition, running drills is also a crucial method of training employees on emergency preparedness. These people should understand the resources that they should have at hand to respond to disasters.
A blended approach is more appropriate for training hospital employees about emergency management and preparedness. Specifically, it comprises computer-based training, books, online, and live training. Blended training is more effective since different people understand things using distinctive strategies (Kho et al., 2018). For example, some individuals like online training while others prefer to read books or pamphlets. When hospital employees are trained in emergency management and preparedness using a blended learning method, everyone has a high likelihood to comprehend how to respond when a disaster occurs. In the digital era, individuals should not be restricted by only one way of doing things. They should be exposed to various learning methods so that all of them can understand fundamental concepts and be ready to use them when responding to emergencies.
