Observation is a crucial tool in assessing the development of a child. By keeping track of the child's behavior and creating detailed documentation, patterns are established hence making it easy to assess how the child is developing (Gillis et al., 2020). A significant technique I would use in observation is checklists. Presumably, this is a list of various aspects, such as knowledge, skills, or aptitudes. Through observation, a teacher ascertains whether a child can meet the set criteria. The technique is however, only useful when a teacher is only interested in something particular.
Another observation technique would be time sampling. In this case, I would record a short narrative about the child at maybe 20-30 intervals.
