This is a transcript from a video that discusses Chapter 15 of the book above and address the topic of 5e discussion:
Today we're going to have the opportunity to talk about how legislation or a political issues are influencing public education. In particular, I'd like to focus today on issues concerning sexual orientation and gender identity and how the current political correctness nature that exists in our culture, in our schools is causing harm to children. There are three primary influences that have led us to where we are today with respect to sexual orientation and gender identity with kids in schools. The first is the radical departure for biblical standards. If you understand that God designed as a particular way and he intended for us a function, a particular way. We see how far we have come from that with respect to these issues. The second is the declassification us that homosexuality from the diagnostic manual that defines mental disorders, or when that happened in 1973 was very political decision that was made. Even the President of the American Psychiatric Association at the time said it was declassified for political reasons, not based on science. And the third is the emphasis by United States Supreme Court with respect to individual autonomy and the right to determine who you are and what you are. That has led to this idea that it is wrong for us or tell people that they can't define themselves, either based on sexual orientation or gender identity. The lens through which we are looking at sexual orientation and gender identity today is one of a political nature. We are looking at are laws and deciding that it is wrong to judge people, but they're allowed to define themselves any way they want to. And so with respect to issues of sexual orientation and gender identity, it doesn't matter what aligns with biological reality or what we know to be true concerning God's design for individuals. It is wrong for us to tell somebody that you cannot be involved in same-sex relationship or you can't define yourself as a boy even though you're a girl. I in fact, it's come so far that there are now laws across the country that are prohibiting counselors from helping individuals with unwanted same-sex attractions, unwanted gender identity issues, from helping them work through those issues. So the laws that are in place are saying, if you want counseling for unwanted same-sex attractions, we can't offer that to you. The only counseling we can offer you is if you want to affirm your same-sex attractions. Similarly, if an individual is struggling with gender identity, I'm a boy, but I'm identifying as a girl. I want to work through this. The laws on these states are now saying that we can only help you if you want to change your gender identity to be different than your biological sex. So we can help you if you want to be a boy when in reality your girl, but we can't help you realign your beliefs about yourself back to biological reality. And that is creating problems in the schools today. For example, we're having issues across the country of Kim boys, girls bath bathrooms, locker rooms. What do we do with bullying codes, where we're now seeing gender identity and sexual orientation are protected. Wow, how do you teach in a classroom? Are you required to recognize someone by the gender they believe themselves to be or not? Guidance counselors across the country because of these counselling codes now can only help you affirm same-sex attractions or affirm your gender identity that is different than your biological sex. As a result, children are being harmed in the process. Even the leading organization in the world that affirms the idea that you can change your sex. Ed myths that 7710, 94% of all adolescents eventually align their gender identity with their sex. Which means that 7790% of people who identify as a boy, even though they are Girl, by the time they get through puberty and become an adult, it has worked itself out. And they know that they're a girl. And yet the laws are saying, we can't help you work that process out. And it's creating a lot of problems in our public schools. We should approach these issues on sexual orientation and gender identity from a distinctly biblical perspective. And from that perspective, we understand that God created us male and female. He created us in his image, in his likeness. He didn't make mistakes. And although we may struggle with sexual orientation issue, you may struggle with gender identity issues just like we struggle with other issues. For example, someone is identifying and having eating disorder issues. We encourage them to get counseling to work that out so that we don't encourage them not to eat. We encourage them to have a healthy self image, to get help, to be able to understand the proper way to eat so many other things in this culture, we understand that we are struggling with it. You can get help to align your beliefs about yourself with the reality of the biology in this instance. And so from the way we understand that's it, that's the approach we have to understand that first of all, there is no science supporting the idea that there's a gene that makes Ou Gai. There's no study proving it. And so from a scientific perspective, not only is there no proof of that, there're studies even from the CDC that recognize that there is significant health risks with the being involved in same-sex sexual relationships. But that shouldn't surprise us from a biblical perspective because it's not God's design for the way sex are supposed to come together and compliment each other. Same thing with gender identity, we should not have children in school is being encouraged to take cross-gender hormones. And yet we are as early as nine years old, we're using off-label drugs, giving them a nine-year-old to suppress puberty. There's even document documented cases in the United States of doctors performing mastectomies, unhealthy girls because they believe they're a boy and therefore, the operation should take place to shouldn't be happening. They need help. Unfortunately, we're living in a culture that believes that by telling them the truth, in love, that they need help, that they need counseling, that we can help them align their attractions and their identity with the biblical standard. The culture views that as hateful. And so we have to work on how we communicate with individuals, message this, but we have to be willing to be bold Stanford biblical principles and communicate truth in a loving way.

Horace Mann and Lyndon B. Johnson
Horace Mann and Lyndon B. Johnson held contrasting perspectives on the societal implications of education. Mann, a renowned advocate for educational reform in the 19th century, posited that education was the linchpin for advancing society. He regarded it as a potent tool for fostering the development of a harmonious society, contending that education would engender enhanced comprehension, empathy, and cooperation among disparate social classes, ultimately contributing to creating a unified nation. Mann emphasized the significance of the social aspects of learning, acknowledging that the educational process should encompass acquiring knowledge and developing interpersonal relationships. In contrast, Johnson viewed education as the fundamental pillar of civil rights and social equity. As the 36th President of the United States, he advocated for education to address the glaring disparities that afflicted society, p...
