Learning is a lifelong process and requires attention, memory, language, writing, high-level thinking, processing, and organizing through the various developmental stages. This essay seeks to explore the diverse ways young infants, mobile infants, or toddlers learn.
Gross motor skills
Gross motor skills activities such as riding a bike are appropriate for toddlers between 5-10 years. These skills harness a child's ability to participate in high vigorous exercise and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Gross motor skills activities require physical things to build coordination, strength, endurance, and facilitate muscle growth. Muscular strength contributes to good postures, which helps children to perform everyday tasks such as running, skipping, carrying schoolbags, etc. Also, participating in these activities sets the foundation for kids to improve gross motor skills such as reading, writing, teamwork, and following instructions. In furtherance, gross motor activities allow healthy growth and development of a child. Moreover, by participating in numerous physical activities, the child can concentrate and increase cognitive capabilities. Self Concept
When a child is in the mobile infant stage, it is advisable to introduce self-concept activities such as drawing self-portraits. The primary goal of these activities is to understand their strengths and sense of worth by teaching them how to respect themselves, which helps them create and maintain stronger and positive relationships with others. With a clear understanding of their strengths and self-care practices, children will gain lifelong skills to achieve and maintain optimal overall health. Parents should also create a positive emotional relationship through warm and caring gestures such as maintaining eye contact and touch. These activities require physical things to illustrate the self-portraits and verbal communications to affirm them. To achieve these activities, caregivers and teachers praise their efforts and strengths to boost their confidence.
Emotional Skills/Regulation
Carer givers should expose infants between the age of 1-2years to emotional skills/regulation activities to tame their behavior, emotions, thoughts, attention, and action.
