Dialogic reading involves an adult and child having a dialogue around the text they are reading. Their conversation centers around elements of the material they are reading.
The educator uses two main strategies when doing dialogic reading to the children:
Read aloud to your class – She is reading aloud to the students who are listening. In reading the story, the learners can pick up new vocabulary, ask questions and engage with the teacher about the story. She is also asking the students questions about the story and the book.
Speak slowly and Articulate – the teacher is speaking slowly and articulately. Every word she pronounces is spoken slowly such that all students can hear every syllable and articulately. She also pauses periodically to check for understanding and ensure all students understand the meaning of each word.
