The childhood background plays a significant role in the development of an individual. With the differences in the background of learners, schools face the challenge of leveling the learning environment to ensure fairness and equal learning. The first approach I would employ in developing a positive home-school relationship is to focus on the cognitive, social, and emotional development of these learners (Klein & Knitzer, 2006). This approach requires a proper understanding of the background of these learners in terms of their race, ethnicity, economic status, and religion. This understanding enables the teacher to draw out the abilities that the learners possess and provide them an opportunity to achieve their potentials (Tyminski, 2013). The knowledge will also enable me to present content in a manner that is favorable to the learners irrespective of their background.
