The suffering of family members after losing a very important person in their lives and it is exhibited in their behavior. Steve is left to take care of two children, and the kids have to learn to live without their mother, which is very difficult. Thus, different degrees of the six protective factors are exhibited in the family. There is a high degree of nurturing and attachment in this family because Dana and Johnny receive the love and respect they need from their father every day. Steve takes the kids to school, which shows that he loves his kids and respects their education. Although the children are being difficult at home and in school, they seem to have a healthy parent-children relationship. Secondly, Steve demonstrates a low degree of parenting and child development knowledge. At the ages of 10 and 8, when a child loses their parent, they are prone to exhibit behaviors such as wanting to withdraw and being difficult at home and in school. Thus, there seems to be an unawareness of this, resulting in not solving the issue.
Thirdly, Steve exhibits a moderate degree of parental resilience. It has been six months since his wife passed away, and though he struggles to raise the kids, he has not indulged in reckless behavior or failed to play his role as a parent.
