I don’t think it is good for parents to discuss gender roles with their young children. A child’s gender is one of the least concerns a child can have at a younger age. Parents should not start introducing such critical subjects at that tender age of the child’s development. At the tender ages, what most concerns the child is playing, eating, and other basic activities. The child has no reason to worry if it is male or female. On the contrary, gender roles should be discussed with the children at later ages of their development. I suggest that the most appropriate moment for a parent to discuss gender roles with their children should be when the children raise questions about gender.
