The harmony among group members is essential in their success. It overrides individuality and marks the beginning of conformity. Once the group enters this condition, the group members start to achieve a phenomenon known as groupthink. Kenton (2020) defined this as a form of decision-making that does not depend on a consensus based on critical thinking. Instead, the group members find their typical desires and synchronize these without violating the balance within the group.
Based on personal surveillances, this happens during batch meetings where all the people must decide that conforms to the opinions of the batch’s executive committee. The executive committee members argue about the significance of joining extracurricular activities. Although it is supposed to be voluntary, the batch leaders were trying to persuade everyone to voluntarily sign-up, stating that it is about the batch and not individual reputation, since all the initial batches had 100% participation from all the students.
