* The Madagascar party will have a more negotiating advantage with the issues raised by the locals. Protection of biodiversity is critical for future generations. Cinchona trees and periwinkle have been overexploited for their medicinal properties in Madagascar. While there could be a few or many places besides the country to grow these plants, the locals have transferred indigenous knowledge on their use in the treatment of various ailments. This knowledge is the inalienable wealth that is symbolically attached to the people of Madagascar (Molkanen, 2021). Therefore, the government and the people of Madagascar have more negotiating advantages even though the cinchona plants and periwinkle were to be grown elsewhere.
