Hi everyone my name is Phong, I am working towards my degree in Business Administration and hopefully will be done by the Spring semester. This course will help me have a better understanding of how an organization plans and executes their plans and who is involved.
According to the article, SAS, has been around and successful for 4 decades. The management plan that was implemented by CEO, John Goodnight, only proves overtime that his mission and vision were shared by those who are employed at SAS. In our reading it discussed how the POLC framework (Planning, Organizing, Leading, and Controlling) is used to help identify and explain the process of management and how it helps operate the organization.
Planning - Involves setting objectives and determining a course of action for achieving those objectives (Carpenter, 2013). SAS headquarters which is located in Cary, North Carolina has a convenient on-site health care center for employees and their family members, free recreation, swim and fitness center. While other SAS offices provide many health and well-being programs, which include gym memberships and health seminars. During the pandemic SAS also provided virtual-health care to their employees. Their dedication to provide and care for their employees coincides with their mission.
Organizing - Involves developing an organizational structure and allocating human resources to ensure the completion of objectives, often through the design of individual jobs within the organization (Carpenter, 2013). In order to make sure your employees are satisfied and want to stay at their jobs is to make sure that they have a good work/life balance and job security, two things that SAS does proudly.
Leding - Involves social and informal sources of influence used to inspire others to take action utilizing knowledge of personalities, values, attitudes, and emotions (Carpenter, 2013). Working at SAS, CEO Goodnight creates an environment of trust and security so that the employees can feel safe and be themselves without worry and in that mindset he believes that his employees will do their best work and be motivated.
Controlling - Involves ensuring that managerial actions do not deviate from standards by creating processes and procedures that ensure consistent behavior (Carpenter, 2013). After 4 decades in the business, there is a reason why this organization has remained as prosperous as it has, following true to their integrity to the mission and vision.

Hello everyone,
My name is M and my major is Business' management with a concertation in Human Resources. So this class is right up my alley. I look forward to learning all the things.
SAS's has great employee management and uses the POLC framework well.
For planning they have set the clear goals for engagement and the well being of their employees.
They showcase their organization skills through the different ways by offering the classes during COVID-19. Showing how they were able to get a team together to organize everything.
Leading is shown first hand by the CEO speaking on creating a great workplace. Leaders help motivate and support their employees so being able to create a great work environment is very important for that.
The final part of POLC is controlling. SAS shows their control through the feedback survey. They are using this method to help create improve the culture and ensure satisfaction within the company.

The P-O-L-C framework greatly influences SAS’s employee management. The SAS application of the model is inspiring, and other corporations should embrace their example to achieve optimal employee engagement and performance levels. In the planning phase, the managers implement specific measures to ensure employees are satisfied with the organization's workplace culture and processes. This is necessary to ensure employees work toward achieving objectives using the right actions (Bauer et al., 2021). SAS organizes employee empowerment programs to ensure their workers are in the right emotional state to achieve optimal results for the company. This dimension is crucial as managers develop programs tailored to ensure employees are positioned to achieve organizational objectives. In the leading dimension, SAS executives offer guidelines and inspire their subordinate staff using performance appraisal and incentives to ensure they are engaged and motivated. This example demonstrates that SAS leadership influences the junior team. In the controlling dimension of the framework, the managers avoid closely supervising subordinates but instead allow them to work autonomously, thus building trust with the staff. This means managers have implemented managerial measures to avoid deviating from the standards and procedures that ensure employees demonstrate consistent behavior (Bauer et al., 2021).
