While a bachelor’s degree is required to work as property appraisers and assessors, there is no specific undergraduate as educational requirements vary they are mostly related to real estate law, business, construction management and finance. The appraisers of real estate require licensure or certification requirements to practice in each state. There are federal licenses or certification if working on federally related transaction for appraisers, but this is not the case with personal and business property where there are state specific requirements (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2021).
The job is then projected to grow by 3% in the period 2019-2029, but long-term growth is linked with economic growth and population increase as this influence demand for services (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2021). It is projected that there will be on average 5,400 job openings per year for property appraisers and assessors in the next 10 years, but the growth prospects are similar to the average of other occupations (Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2021). Like other occupations, this is one of the jobs that will be increasingly reliant on technology to facilitate property appraisal.
