Methodology
The research team developed the survey instrument, which was refined after input from a social research firm.
From 28th August to 31st October 2014, Computer Assisted Personal Interviews took place and Ipsos Mori interviewers conducted them, taking an average of thirty-five minutes to finish (Demski et al. 2017).
In particular, the study incorporated a countrywide representative quota sample that had 1002 interviews.
The quotas were established depending on gender, working status, and age of the double output areas of the local population (Demski et al. 2017).
Researchers chose respondents with direct experience of EWE, which is flooding in this scenario, from five areas affected by floods heavily.
The consultation with Ipsos Mori and the advisory panel significantly helped to choose the areas affected by floods.
The UK Environment Agency’s media report was used to verify the existence of flooding in various parts, leading to a proper selection of the participants (Demski et al. 2017).

Climate change was found to be a more salient topic, particularly for individuals who had directly experienced flooding.
