Climate change has been a matter of concern for countries. Climate change affects many areas of society and aspects of life. Climate change has negative effects on the agricultural sector. Rapid climatic changes all over the world have reduced crop production, reducing the world's ability to produce sustainable food for a growing population and thus exposing many regions to food insecurity.

The effects of climate change on the agricultural sector will have significant consequences, particularly in developing countries (El-Bilali, 2021). According to Leisner (2020), the United Nations World Food Program estimates that climate change has caused 800 million people worldwide to go hungry. The developing countries are affected because their food production is heavily reliant on natural rains, and climate change has impacted weather patterns, resulting in droughts and lower harvest levels, leading to food insecurity.

Increased greenhouse gas emissions, as well as rapid urbanization, have exacerbated climate change. The increase in pollution caused temperatures to rise, common extreme weather events, and changed precipitation patterns (Leisner 2020). As a result, the developing countries can no longer rely on farming alone to produce enough food for consumption since food production has been affected. When there is limited plant growth, it means that people will not have enough food, and the nation is likely to suffer from food insecurities.

The impacts of climate change on crops are evident. The availability of food is becoming an increasing problem in many countries. Specifically, climate change is affecting the world's ability to grow crops and produce food (Saxena et al., 2018). The droughts or floods caused food shortages and an increase in the prices of foods, which low-earning consumers find challenging to afford (Verschuur et al., 2021). The cost of growing vegetables and fruits has increased too, and this reduces the number of people willing to grow such crops. These events lead to food insecurity.

Also, pests attack crops, and some farmers cannot afford pesticides, forcing them to abandon agriculture, resulting in food shortages and hunger in developing countries.
Because developing countries rely heavily on natural rain, the number of irrigation schemes has decreased. Farmers prefer rain to irrigation schemes because it is free; however, irrigation schemes are very useful.

Climate change has caused traditional crops to fail in developing countries. Traditional crops that were once grown are no longer capable of growing at the same rate. Farmers are struggling to produce enough food for their families and communities. Because of these changes, many people can no longer afford to buy staple foods, which are growing less.
