Case Study Instructions:

CASE PRESENTATION:CASE CONCEPTUALIZATION (CP-CC)ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONSOVERVIEWThis is the second part of your Case Presentation Assignment. This is called a formative assignment in that you will get to “practice” the case conceptualization (CC) process. This an important step towards the development of an effective treatment plan. It is the middle part of the “golden thread” when working with a client. By offering a sound CC, you are creating a focused problem areas (step 2 of inverted pyramid model, IPM) that directly translates to the treatment plan format, theoretical buckets (e.g., cognitive and behavioral maladaptations, if using CBT), and an etiological understanding (e.g., maladaptive core beliefs) which are driving the maladaptive thinking and actions. INSTRUCTIONSFor this Case Presentation: Case Conceptualization (CP-CC) Assignment, you will complete the Case Conceptualization (CC) portion of the case presentation as illustrated in the Case Presentation: Case Conceptualization Template, Case Presentation Example, and textbook. As you work through this Case Presentation: Case Conceptualization (CP-CC) Assignment, you may “consult” with your clinical team via Microsoft Teams. Below you will find step-by-step instructions to complete this Case Presentation: Case Conceptualization (CP-CC) Assignment.This assignment should be 1-3 pages in lengthoThis length excludes the cover page and reference sectionFollow current APA formattingoPlease be sure to include headings, subheadings, and in-text citationsThe assignment requires at least 2 citations, including one scholarly, peer-reviewed article or textbook that relates to your chosen counseling theory,oe.g., Switzer and Rubin, peer-reviewed journal, other theoretical textbooks. oNote: if other sources are used they are to be scholarly articles published within the last five years unless there are considered seminal works in the field of study. Please use the Case Presentation: Case Conceptualization (CP-CC) Template for this Case Presentation: Case Conceptualization (CP-CC) Assignment. To complete this Case Presentation: Case Conceptualization (CP-CC) Assignment, do the following:1)Review the Case Presentation: Case Conceptualization (CP-CC) Template document. Follow the APA format as provided in the template. It is developed to help you stay aligned with assignment expectations based on the assignment instructions and grading rubric. 2)Review your textbook and other readings on Case Conceptualization and review theory-specific examples. 3)Write up the part 1 of the Inverted Triangle Model based on Case Presentation: Assessment and Diagnosis Assignment data.
COUC 667Page 2 of 24)Write up part 2 of the IPM. See p. 90 of Switzer and Rubin for guidance. This is the “atheoretical” grouping of part 1. Make sure to document in the assignment which of the 4 thematic grouping approaches was used for step 2. 5)Next write part 3 of the IPM. This where you apply your chosen counseling theory (psychodynamic, CBT, etc.). Use only 1 theory. As a counselor-in-training, you do not have a solid foundation for more than one theory as it takes years to master. As such, you would be operating unethically and potentially illegally, based on ACA code of ethics (2014) – core professional value 5; C.2.b; C.2.f; and E.5.b. You will use your chosen theory to determine the etiology, deeper theoretical inferences. From a CBT lens it is the core belief, from a psychodynamic the drives, instincts, unconscious factors that are driving the themes in step 3 of the model and ultimately the signs and symptoms observed in step 1 during the assessment and diagnosis process.6)After completing the IPM, it is now time to write up the CC narrative. The CC narrative is where you apply your chosen theory to explain (not describe, as you did in the diagnostic impression) what is going on with the client. You use key theory-based concepts and terms to explain why a client is experiencing their signs, symptoms, problems. 7)You do not do a Christian integration in the CC narrative. Only use your secular counseling theory. Note: Your assignment will be checked for originality via the Turnitin plagiarism tool.Be sure to review the Case Presentation: Case Conceptualization (CP-CC) Grading Rubric before beginning this Case Presentation: Case Conceptualization (CP-CC) Assignment
I attached the instructions, a template for this assignment and step 1 that preceded this assignment as this one is supposed to be step 2. I also attached a case file about the character we are doing a case conceptualization about
This assignment is about a fictional character from a TV show, called 24 and his name is Jack Bauer.

Step 3: Theoretical Inferences
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is the chosen counseling theory, and CBT concepts are used based on what has already been identified as the main concerns and problem areas. CBT focuses on modifying behaviors, thoughts, and emotions that cause or is associated with a behavioral problem. The CBT intervention is based on the idea that people’s thoughts and feelings play a fundamental role in their behavior. Cognitive Behavioral therapy is action-oriented where the counselor and the client work together to identify and solve problems. Behavioral therapy focuses on eradicating or modifying certain behaviors or behaviors that cause our discomfort while acquiring and enhancing those others that will help us overcome our problems. On the other hand, cognitive therapy focuses on thoughts and beliefs, modifying the sense of thought, which helps modify behavior and the emotional state.
Emotions are linked to thoughts, and the way people think is closely linked with their...
