Anxiety and its Disorders
Behavioral disturbances that affect an individual’s life usually constitute a disorder. Fear and anxiety are the leading causes of such disorders. Fear relates to the emotional responses that arise due to imminent threats, either perceived or real. On the other hand, a threat refers to the anticipation of uncertainties and dangers that may arise in the future. Various mental disorders pose different symptoms. These mental disorders, in most cases, negatively affect an individual’s lifestyle, social interaction, and personal behaviors. According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM-5), some of the common mental disorders include, but are not limited to, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Personality disorders, ADHD, Eating disorders, and Paraphilia disorders. The paper examines specifically anxiety and its disorders concerning Alice and Sally’s cases.
