Case Study Instructions:

Think about an experience you had where you felt extremely motivated. In a 3- to 4-page paper, analyze this experience according to the experiential format below. Each subtitle represents a different section of the paper. You can use the subtitles as headings.
Introduction: Discuss the topic of the paper and how you will approach it. It is best to write this section after you have written the rest of the paper.
The Experience: Begin with a specific situation/event. Describe the experience where you felt extremely motivated. Be objective and focus on just the facts: who, what, where, when, and how.
Reflection: Reflect upon that experience from the multiple perspectives of other people involved or affected in the experience. Step back from the situation, look at the experience from your own viewpoint, and the viewpoints of other parties involved or affected. Look at the circumstances surrounding the experience from every relevant perspective. Why was the experience motivating to you? What did others do that increased your motivation? Was the situation (or would the situation) also be motivating to others? (Note: Your discussion of theories and models from your module materials belongs in the following section.)
Abstract Conceptualization: [Important: This Abstract Conceptualization section is the “heart” of your paper. Use critical thinking skills to understand and interpret the experience at a deeper, more generalizable level. Interpret and understand the events you have described by drawing on the concepts, theories, and models in the background material from this module. What behavior patterns can you identify in yourself and others that are similar to the ones described in the material on motivation, values, and/or goals? How do these concepts and principles explain why you were motivated? What general principles of motivation can you derive from this analysis? Apply at least three concepts, theories, and/or models and cite all references to concepts and ideas that you use from sources. Be sure to cite all references to concepts, ideas, and quotes you use that come from any outside source.
Experimentation: Identify ways to respond to the next occurrence of a similar experience. How are you going to put what you have learned to use? How will you use this knowledge to motivate yourself and others? What actions will you take to create a work environment that is motivating?
Conclusion: Sum up the main points of your analysis and the key learnings you are taking from it.
Reference List: List all references that you have cited in the paper using APA formatting. References include materials from the required background readings as well as any outside Internet or library sources you used in researching and writing your paper. If you have APA questions, refer to the optional listings on the Background page.

Case Study: Motivation
Motivation is a crucial element that every individual desires. It is the process of initiating, guiding, and maintaining goal-oriented behaviors (Kanfer et al., 2017). It can also be summarized as an innate drive to achieve specific goals and objectives. Managers must understand the concept of motivation to coordinate effectively with the employees. Additionally, individual motivation is also essential since it brings different benefits such as professional development and timely achievement of goals. Therefore, a driving force is crucial for individuals to grow personally and professionally. The paper will be based on the theoretical and practical alignment of the motivation concept and Kolb’s model.
The Experience
Many experiences have existed in my life which have motivated me towards achieving different goals. For instance, whenever any job opportunity emerges, I would always exploit it. Regardless of working hard to attain my degree, I always focus on the military profession since I would like to be promoted to the top position in the country. Therefore, it means that a management degree would allow me to have a high chance of being promoted. In 2019, my dream of promotion came true, advancing my education where I successfully became a top commander in the New York Police Department. The promotion was right since I needed adequate money to enroll in my studies and assist my mother, who suffers from diabetes. Therefore, it was a financial breakthrough and an opportunity for personal development since I would have an adequate resource for completing my part-time degree and helping my family.
Reflection
The experience was a motivating factor since it happened at the right time when I needed financial assistance. My experience is also based on Kolb’s model, which focuses on the emotional aspect of motivation (Kaushik, 2017). The experience was a motivational factor since it emotionally drove me towards working extra hard for advancement. My workplace environment also stimulated my motivation. Besides, SMART goals are the essential drive for motivation since the outcome are easily measurable. My motivational experience would also motivate others since it shows them the essence of creating SMART goals and working towards them. Based on Herzberg’s theory, motivation is a critical element of job satisfaction (Alshmemri et al., 2017). Therefore, it would positively impact other employees to focus on better goals.
Abstract Conceptualization
My experience is adequately linked to goal-setting theory. The theory allowed me to establish a motivational framework that shaped my behavioral pattern in the workplace. The theory focuses on measurable and clear goals to tackle any possible work or learning experience (Latham, 2016). My promotional experience was based on effective performance associated with clearly established goals. My promotion was also based on extraversion since my seniors indicated that I adequately socialized with my workmates regardless of their position, which allowed me to gain different skills. Therefore, one of the behavior patterns similar to m...
