One concept about groups that is relevant to the case at hand is that no man is an island. This theory simply means that no one can succeed or achieve greatness all on their own. People need each other to scale the gates of hell and overcome the hurdles they will find along their way. However, even though a person cannot succeed alone and they need a team, there needs to be order and a specific agenda. When people come together, they complement each other and with a combined effort are able to overcome whatever challenge that is on their way. Having seen the company’s revenues plummet it was necessary that a team be created to help the company find its way back. Jack knew that it took a team to get the company to where it was and that it will take another to take it back and hence his decision to instruct Eric to come up with a team.
