Although there were several physicians working within the practice, half of the physicians used the system, while the other half did not. The creation and implementation of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) have revolutionized healthcare in the past decade. It improved the workflow, increased diagnostic accuracy, as well as ensured transparency between every stakeholder. However, several factors hinder the full and proper implementation of EHR, especially in rural communities. In line with the case at hand, this article would discuss the possible causes and effects of the incomplete implementation of this technology in rural Georgia. This includes the effects on the provision of quality care, as well as how it translates to the patients themselves. All in all, the author of this article believes that despite the need to fully implement EHR use in the area, some issues should be addressed first. 
Incomplete Implementation
Several factors could serve as a reason why only half of the physicians have adopted the use of EHR in the said area, such as (1) geographic distance, (2) lack of specialists, and (3) resistance to change. On the one hand, a study conducted by the Georgia Health Information Technology Regional Extension Center (GA-HITREC), showed that the main barriers for the implementation of the EHR system in rural Georgia include geographic distance and lack of EHR specialists. These two increases the capital costs needed to implement and ensure compliance for healthcare providers that are living in these areas. 
On the other hand, a systematic review conducted by Ajami and Arab-Chadegani (2013), suggested that “resistance to change” is one of the main factors that prevent the full implementation of this system throughout the whole State. Particularly, resistance happens when healthcare practitioners opt to retain their old methods due to the beliefs of inherent risks in the implementation or complexity of changing their established practices.
