Option 2. Describe Benito Mussolini's revival of European Imperialism in North Africa and how he came to be Adolf Hitler's ally.
Benito Mussolini was the founder of the national fascist party. This was the ruling party in Italy, and Benito Mussolini was a dictator. In 1895, Italia attempted to conquer the Kingdom, but the Ethiopians defeated them in the Battle of Custom. The National Fascist Party, led by Benito Mussolini, sought to attack the Abyssinia Kingdom, which borders the Italian colonies. The two aims of the part were to revive imperialism in North Africa and revenge for lost battle. Therefore, this paper will focus on how Benito Mussolini revive imperialism in North Africa and how he became Adolf Hitler's ally.
Mussolini's main aim was to avenge the Italian troops' humiliation during the Battle of Custom. He considered the Abyssinia kingdom as a weak prey that could enable the party to meet its objectives. Italy was to achieve this mission by making enemies between Abyssinia and the neighboring Kingdoms. In December 1934, there was a confrontation between the Abyssinian troops and the Somali troops serving the Italian colony. Italy accused Abyssinia of being the party responsible for the confrontation, but actions were not taken (Paisley, 2017). In October 1935, there was a border dispute, and Italy launched a military invasion of Abyssinia from its Eritrean base. The Italian military had sophisticated weapons, which gave them an advantage in winning the battle.
