Diana is a 37-year-old mother of 2 children. She used to exercise fairly consistently (mostly jogging and light aerobic activities) before having kids. Ever since she had her first child 9 years ago, she has not been very active. Diana has her 20-year high school reunion coming up in 3 months (12 weeks). She would like to look and feel her best and is eager and willing to spend the next 12 weeks doing what she can to change her body.
INSTRUCTIONS
Design a 12-wcck pcriodized training program for the client described in the Client Profile. Be very specific as you design the training programs as this is an opportunity for you to demonstrate your full comprehension of the information and concepts discussed throughout the course. List the types of exercise, duration, sets, reps, rest intervals, and so on.
CLIENT CALCULATIONS
Calculate the client's target heart rate using the Kami non formula (you will determine the appropriate target heart rate for this client given the information gathered in the initial assessment and evaluation).
INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING IN YOUR CASE STUDY SUBMISSION:
A description of your professional responsibilities as discussed in the stages of the drawing-in process (Unit 12)
Discussion of any fitness tests, methods of evaluation, and data collection used to assess and evaluate the client's needs
Explanation for your recommendations and any specific conditions presented by your client that are found in the evaluation (Be sure to reference course concepts when discussing rationale for your recommendations.)
A detailed 12-week comprehensive and periodized training program including specific exercises, sets, repetitions, suggested rest times, etc. Use an integrated approach in your program recommendations. USE CHARTS TO ILLUSTRATE THE TRAINING PROGRAMS.
Specific and detailed nutritional strategies with an explanation as to how they will assist the client in meeting energy needs throughout the training program and achieving intended goal(s)
Keep in mind that a client should be able to take your program and put it into practice without having to contact you to clarify- what you intended by your recommendations or to explain parts of your program.
Include an explanation for WHY you listed and recommended what you did. Reference the concepts and theories covered in the course. Be sure to address why the program and exercises recommended are appropriate for the specific client given the client’s history, current abilities, and intended goai(s). For example: if you are developing a program for a beginner dient without any resistance training experience, explain how your program addresses: the lack of experience, initial need for foundational development, process by which you would safely progress the client, ctc. Tying your program to course concepts is a critical component of your case study.39

As you create your own training programs for the following hypothetical clients, we want you to approach
these clients as you would approach a real-life situation. Keep the following priorities in mind:
1. Is the training program that you are designing appropriate, safe, and effective for the client, given their current physical abilities and their primary goals and objectives?
2. Could you defend your program from a legal standpoint? Who would be held liable if your client was injured during training because of either lifting too much weight or exceeding a certain heart rate?

We can define the basal metabolic rate or BMR as the rate of energy expenditure per unit time. Diana Prince’s BMR has been calculated in the following way.

Diana Prince’s BMI is found to be 38.81, and this indicates that she is obese and needs to shed extra pounds as soon as possible.
Now, we will calculate her target heart rate in the following way.
Target Heart Rate = ((maximum HR − resting HR) × Percentage of Intensity) + Resting HR
Maximum HR = 220 - 37 (Diana Prince’s age) = 183
There are times when the resting heart rate is not given. If it so happens, then we are allowed to use the average value (70 bpm) for the resting heart rate. The detailed calculations are as follows.
If the intensity is 60%, then the target heart rate will be ((183 - 75) x 0.6) + 75 = 139.8
On the other hand, if the intensity is 80%, then the target heart rate will be ((183 - 75) x 0.8) + 75 = 161.4
139.8 is the minimum training heart rate, and 161.4 is the maximum training heart rate. In other words, we can say that Diana Prince’s training heart zone is between 139.8-161.4 beats per minute or 60 seconds.
An Overview of the Case and My Professional Responsibilities
I am Diana Prince’s trainer, and according to the information provided to me, she has been living a lazy life and is tired of being obese. After the birth of her child, Diana stopped doing physical activities and did not care about her own health. Prior to that, she had been doing several workouts and her favorite activities were walking and jogging. The calculations given above show that she is overweight, which means she needs to begin her training session as soon as possible. I do not want to put any burden on Diana Prince, as she is now living a lazy life. I will take her forward slowly and steadily, which means she will first have to do light exercises and then will be required to do tough workouts.
I have designed this 12-week training or exercise session to ensure that the client sheds extra pounds in a short time and that she builds muscles and gains strength to an extent. It is one of my responsibilities to teach her how to do a variety of exercises, and for this purpose, I will spend some time with her in the gym every single day (except Saturday and Sunday).
