Abstract
The Health care system in America is considered one of the most established and elaborate. This is in comparison to most other systems of the world that struggle to provide efficient services to the people. One characteristics of the healthcare system in America that makes it among the strongest in the world is its flexibility and dynamism that allows it to accommodate changes as they take place. In the last few years, there have been changes in the general outlook of the system. While services offered by the system were previously concentrated in hospitals, this trend has changed. There are now more outpatient services offered as well as health care services targeting people at the family level. In this paper, the dynamism that has seen many changes in the system occur will be discussed. The impact in terms of positive achievements of these changes will also be focused on.
Factors that have led to care being offered outside the hospital setting
One contributory factor that led to departure from the confinement of hospital environment only is to have more people who access health care services. Researches and surveys over the years have shown that there are some people who do not have adequate access to hospital services. This is either because where they reside there are not enough health care facilities, or they cannot afford the services offered in the hospitals (Kuhn, 2010). There are others who cannot access these services because of their poor health. For example, elderly people who have nobody to take care of them may often find it difficult to take themselves to the hospital. Having health care services extended beyond the hospital setting has helped ensure that patients with such unique needs are accommodated.
