The concept of globalization as “second modernity” can be used to analyze society. The concept recognizes that globalization has changed the way people see the world. In the past, countries were more nationalistic in their approach to issues. They did not consider the actions of other countries as very critical. However, as nations collaborated more, they realized they all lacked something that others could provide. For instance, in trade, some countries have an advantage in producing certain products, while others can provide the market. Globalization has brought the world together as nations are more aware that their actions have consequences on the whole globe. Hence, countries need to be responsible for their actions. People in the globalized world have a lot to gain. They have access to opportunities in different parts of the world. For instance, a business can discover a market for its products in another continent and get its products delivered.
This analysis majors on a conceptual approach of globalization as “second modernity” in the analysis of Tinder, a dating site. Since its founding, Tinder has become a popular dating site. While there are other dating sites, Tinder has grown to become a household name. It has become a destination for young people, especially in college, who want to date. Users create a profile, providing personal details like gender, location, age, and other required information (Tinder, 2022). Once the process is complete, users can start swiping through the numerous profiles. The profiles come with a photo and a small biography. If users dislike a profile, they swipe left while right if they like them. Users can filter their search to get the description of the people they want. Once two people agree, they can start a conversation via the application. Here, they get to know each other better and engage more. Through the platform, people can develop long-lasting relationships. Some people have ended up getting marriage partners.

Founded ten years ago, Tinder has proceeded to become a popular dating site. It has over 75 million active users and contributes to about 1.5 million dates weekly (Tinder, 2022). Tinder is the place to go and find a suitable dating partner for the newer generation. Tinder has transformed dating in a variety of ways. Firstly, it has allowed people to find love in their comfort without sacrificing time for work or leisure. People can access a database of singles without the necessity of meeting them in person. Secondly, Tinder has been critical in integrating people with diverse needs. Tinder allows people to choose a wide range of partners who can meet their diverse needs. Individuals can filter the kind of partners they want and get relevant results.
