The author Octavia E. Butler saw writing fanciful fiction and science fiction as more than just escaping into illusion; it was also a means of exploring universal challenges. This is undoubtedly true of Kindred, her 1979 book, her most well-known and beloved work. Her work is so intriguing and complex because of Butler's profound respect for interest in and assessment of human nature, even when it occurs in a fantastical reality. Despite this, her narration is effortless and instinctive (Butler, 2004). Her novels are page-turners because they are tightly obtained by plotting, and many of her heroines are strong, plausible Black women. Dana was awakened by the evils of slavery when she learned the actual essence of survival after witnessing first-hand the cruelty of slavery. Her persistent attempts to flee go beyond her greatest desire to reconnect to what she gradually realizes is, to put it mildly, a considerably more pleasant existence than the one she is currently living. Because many historical events have already occurred and shaped the path of ethnic and national histories, it is possible that Dana could not change the course of events.
