Fiction and drama are an important aspect of human existence and in this regard, it can change lives. In reality fiction and drama changes the way people think by breaking the perceptions that individuals have formed about the world and showing people new possibilities for the future. For example, from the short reading The Appearance of Western - Style Drama implores how drama and fiction were used to portray the political climate in China towards the end of 19th century. The article says, “For the purpose of promoting such a national reawakening, Kunqu, Peking Opera and various other dramatic and ballad forms were used among propaganda media” (History of Chinese Drama, n.d.). The Chinese realized the need to adopt the Western style of political leadership and so narrative, poems, and drama was employed by various writers to enlighten Chinese people about this new political agenda. Ideally, drama and fiction help individuals realize how change can be used to make things better in the future (History of Chinese Drama, n.d.).
