Avraham Ebenstein's paper provides one with key insights into China's one-child policy. As read in Ebenstein's paper, China's population experienced rapid growth between 1950 and 1980 (Ebenstein 87). It is amazing how China is the only country in the world to have such significant population growth in such a short time. To date, I had no idea what prompted China's drastic measures on population growth. Neither did I know that the measures were introduced as early as 1980. These two discoveries are among the most important things I have learned from reading the article.
